123 Internet ~ What to Look For in your Hosting Package
Deciding on a web hosting package can be difficult, particularly if you are on a budget or are unsure of what you may need from your package in the first place! So how exactly do you choose the right hosting package, and how will you know if you've got a good deal? There are a few tricks and tips you can look out for which will help you find the best package for your needs.
For starters, decide whether your site is going to be large or small. A large site may have hundreds (or even thousands) of individual pages, or may have only one or two pages, but may include large video, audio or image files. If either applies to your planned website, you may want to consider signing up for a large amount of hosting space (usually measured in megabytes - MB - and gigabytes - GB). This will prevent you from filling up your allotted space. At 123 Internet we advise if your webspace or indeed bandwidth are nearing their limits rather than suspend your site mid month. We are flexible only an email or phone call away to sort out any problem that may arise.
Secondly, decide whether you want to have your email account connected to your website name. For instance, if your website was www.example123.co.uk, you may decide to have the email address joeblogs@example123.co.uk, and this generally costs no extra. Not only will this email address need to be set up (either by yourself or 123 Internet), but the emails sent and received will also be stored on our server until they are downloaded into your email client such as Microsoft Outlook or Windows Mail. If you're happy to keep a free email account at Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo and the like set up to receive a copy of your emails, this is a good easy way to back up all the emails that are sent to you which you can access from any computer.
